FISHING BOATS, PONTOONS, CANOES, & KAYAKS

RENT A WATERCRAFT FOR AN EXCURSION ON GUNFLINT LAKE

Gunflint Lake is approximately 1-1.5 miles across (north/south) and 7 miles long (east/west). It lies on the Minnesota-Canada border. There are no motor restrictions on Gunflint Lake or its connecting waters of Magnetic Lake, Little Gunflint Lake, or Little North or North Lakes. You can gain access to some of the connecting waters with canoes or kayaks or a 16-foot or smaller fishing boat. Larger boats can access Gunflint and Magnetic Lakes but may be limited from accessing other lakes by the water level, depending on the time of year. Take a day trip by canoe or kayak into the surrounding wilderness.

We have fishing boats, pontoons, canoes, or kayaks. Rent one for the day and explore Gunflint and Magnetic Lakes. Take a paddle around Gallagher’s Island in Magnetic Lake, or cruise and hike to Bridal Falls. Whether you’re staying in one of our cabins or campsites or visiting from elsewhere on the Gunflint Trail, we have rentals available for you.

Since Gunflint lies on the Minnesota-Canada border and there’s no customs station on the lake, a Remote Area Border Crossing Permit (RABC or CANN Pass) is required to cross the border for any recreational purpose, including fishing. You must apply to Immigration Canada, and it usually takes 4-6 weeks to process.

There are two BWCA Wilderness entry points accessible from Gunflint Lake and many more within a short drive. Feel free to call if you have questions or check it out online using a link below.

There is no charge for our guests to launch their watercraft from our waterfront or to dock along the shoreline in front of our lakefront premium campsites. Dock space is limited and should be reserved ahead. Please leave your jet skis at home.
